About the Role
The Category Manager is a strategic procurement leader responsible for optimising the University's spending on goods, services, and equipment. By understanding the University's cost structure and collaborating with stakeholders, the Category Manager will drive better value, streamline procurement processes, and enhance the Procurement Services reputation. This role requires a data-driven, results-oriented individual with strong communication and leadership skills to deliver sustainable commercial outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing category management strategies, managing competitive bidding processes, and ensuring compliance with university procurement policies.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts to protect the university's interests and optimise value.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing support and guidance on procurement processes and initiatives.

Who we are looking for
We seek a highly skilled and analytical procurement professional with a proven track record in the construction and facilities sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contract management, data analysis, and cost optimisation. They must be a strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal skills, able to drive process improvement and deliver outstanding commercial outcomes for the university.

You will also have:

  • A relevant undergraduate qualification and/or procurement related qualifications; strong Category management experience and proven expertise in procurement and contracts management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reviewing, recommending, and implementing opportunities to streamline processes for managing standard agreements and procurement practices.
  • High level of computer literacy skills using a broad range of software packages including Microsoft suite of applications and experience with financial management/procurement systems. Demonstrated Experience in SRM.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
