About the Role
The Finance Business Partner provides strategic financial guidance to key leaders within the Chancellery Portfolios . You will partner closely with portfolio and department heads, translating complex financial data into actionable insights that drive impactful decisions and improve business performance. Responsibilities encompass all aspects of financial management, including budget development, forecasting, and reporting. You will play a pivotal role in advising senior leadership on critical financial matters, identifying opportunities for improvement, and influencing key decisions. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing proactive financial advice and supporting to drive improved decision-making and service delivery across the portfolio.
  • Leading all aspects of the budget cycle, including development, forecasting, reporting, and analysis, ensuring accurate and timely financial information to support effective decision-making.
  • Conducting in-depth financial analysis, providing strategic advice to leaders, and supporting the implementation of process improvements to enhance financial performance.


Who we are looking for
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Finance Business Partner with a proven track record of success in managing complex budgets and providing strategic financial guidance. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for senior stakeholders. Advanced skills in financial modelling, data analysis tools, and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Experience in higher education and knowledge of tools like Workday Adaptive Planning are highly desirable.

You will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce related discipline with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training.
  • CPA/CA qualification.
  • Advanced skills in the use of reporting and database enquiry tools (Microstrategy, Power BI, GL Wand, Workday, SQL or similar), including the ability to export data in other forms for analysis, and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft and relevant programs, e.g. MS Office suite including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Visio.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
