About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to coordinate the effective operations of CAWRI, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to promote and arrange events, and carrying out research projects and activities that align to the Initiative's core goals. 

The Creativity and Wellbeing Research Initiative (CAWRI), was established in 2019, works from an interdisciplinary base of researchers focusing on the relationship between creativity and wellbeing and a growing need to develop routes to wellbeing outcomes using arts-based approaches. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow role supports the work of the Chair and Steering Committee of CAWRI to deliver events, carry out research projects and associated activities, and maintain an international profile through its communications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Chair to establish and service partnership governance structures, including preparing reports, arranging meetings, committee management, documenting outcomes and monitoring budgets
  • Supporting delivery of incubation and development of new research projects, including writing of publications
  • Supporting internal events and presentations, public symposia and conferences including co-ordination of rsvp’s and other event requirements
  • Co-ordinating CAWRI’s web presence, updating content as required on the website, and working with the various External Relations teams to ensure CAWRI is profiled on Faculty and University websites and working with Faculty and Central teams when structural changes are required
  • Co-ordinating the delivery of the Initiative's Communications Plan by co-ordinating and creating content with  stakeholders and working with the Faculty External Relations team to distribute the content across University, Faculty and Centre channels
  • Working closely with the Chair and the relevant Faculty Research Office(s) to provide support for development of research projects, including: project scoping and writing, planning and budgeting.
  • Ensuring that the Initiative’s research projects are effectively documented and ensure effective management and storage of research records.

Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for a Fellow who demonstrates:

  • A high level organisational, administrative and academic writing skills, with proven experience in delivering projects with minimal supervision in complex reporting environments.
  • The capacity to work with a wide range of clients both internal (professional staff, senior academics and researchers) and external (industry partners)
  • High-level problem-solving skills with an ability to formulate independent and informed judgements and maintain confidentiality
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to tailor information to different audiences including academic, administrative, industry and general public.

You will also have:

  • A PhD with substantial, relevant experience in a research environment. 
  • Strong computer literacy including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and project management programs.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.

Your New Team - CAWRI
The CAWRI team aims  to develop new frameworks and methods to better understand the link between creativity and wellbeing. CAWRI has initiated and funded a range of research projects examining the link between creativity and wellbeing in a variety of contexts. These projects are exploring how creative activities can:

  • promote and facilitate wellbeing for performing artists;
  • help survivors of sexual trauma move towards post-traumatic growth engaging with arts;
  • support migrant communities navigate new social challenges using arts;
  • help combat reductive stereotypes of women's ageing as a time of decline and loss engaging with creative arts practices;
  • and support recovery, resilience and preparedness for unexpected climate events such a bushfires and flash floods.

Our blog and podcast provide a platform for researchers in our network as well as others working in our theme area to connect with and communicate their research to a wider audience.

CAWRI sits within the Faculty of Fine Arts & Music which offers teaching and research dedicated to composition, conducting, dance, design, production, ethnomusicology, film and television, interactive composition, jazz and improvisation, musicology, music performance, music psychology, music theatre, music therapy, theatre and visual arts.
